1. How are matatu drivers treated in his experience with the BBC?
There can be seen two totally different treatments:
In one hand there's BBC's: whith "the normal treatment, matatu drivers are recieving nothing but respect from them. In the other hand, Kenyans treat matatu drivers like thieves, and the only reason Wambaruru doesn't get treated even worse is because of the presence of BBC in the vehicle.
2. Do Barranquilleros have the same negative opinion of mototaxistas as the Kenyans have of matatu drivers?
I believe at first there sure were some negative opinions of mototaxistas but it certainly has changed. Actually, some time ago, I was on a taxi and the driver was telling me he would rather be a mototaxista than a taxi driver, because he thinks that mototaxistas's community is more like a family and the only reason he was not a mototaxista was his age, he was too old for that. Anyway, there might be people who still sees mototaxistas as a negative, and even dangerous group, but those must be just a few.

I agree with you about the matatu drivers, I think most of them only wants to bring the food to their families and the other people don't let them. Unfortunately, those things happen all the time and another interesting aspect it's that the situation change a little bit just when people who come to overseas appears o people with a camera.
ResponderEliminarAccording to the mototaxistas, well I know that not all of them are bad, but the people use to relate with bad things, for example in a bank when you just get some money from it and you see a mototaxista parking near it, you immediately get scare. So I think that the mototaxistas still have bad image in our society.
I really agree with your opinion about mototaxistas in barranquilla, some people think they all are bad because in the majority of crimes in the city are always involving a man in a motocycle and i also think that people think they are dangerous because they brake a lot of driver's rules, but what people need to know that this is also a respectable work.
